Abstract The aim of this work is to find a general theory of lifts of connections on vector bundles, which contains as examples several known lifts. We introduce the notion of "good squares of vector bundles " and firstly develop the theory of lifs of infinitesimal connections with respect to good squares, obtaining some properties and several examples. After that, we extend the construction to generalized connections, which give some results a about linear pseudo-connections.
