Abstract: We analyse two different procedures for the parallel numerical solution of elliptic boundary value problems with simmetry properties. We demonstrate, under suitable conditions, their equivalence and we show in this case the different characteristics of their implementation. At last, we present two applications, involving the direct problem in electrocardiology and the classical "buckling" eigenvalue problem.
